اپنے نام کے اعداد معلوم کریں (حسابِ ابجد)
Find the abjad value of any name or word. Abjad (also called ilm-e-adad or hisab-e-abjad) is the traditional system that gives every Arabic and Urdu letter a number, from ا = 1 to غ = 1000. Type a name in Urdu and the calculator shows the value of each letter, the total and the single-digit number. You can also add your mother’s name, as many families do.
No Urdu keyboard? Just type with English keys: m = م, Shift+H = ح, d = د (same keys as our Urdu Keyboard). On a phone, use your Urdu keyboard or paste the name.

How to use the abjad calculator
- Type the name in Urdu script, or tap one of the examples. Spaces and harakat (zabar, zer, pesh) are ignored.
- Read the name total and see the value of each letter in the table.
- The single digit adds the digits together until one digit is left. For example 92 → 9 + 2 = 11 → 1 + 1 = 2.
- Optionally add the mother’s name to see the combined total.
Abjad values chart (Urdu and Arabic letters)
| Letter | Value | Letter | Value | Letter | Value | Letter | Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ا | 1 | ب | 2 | ج | 3 | د | 4 |
| ہ | 5 | و | 6 | ز | 7 | ح | 8 |
| ط | 9 | ی | 10 | ک | 20 | ل | 30 |
| م | 40 | ن | 50 | س | 60 | ع | 70 |
| ف | 80 | ص | 90 | ق | 100 | ر | 200 |
| ش | 300 | ت | 400 | ث | 500 | خ | 600 |
| ذ | 700 | ض | 800 | ظ | 900 | غ | 1000 |
Urdu letters take the value of the Arabic letter they come from: پ = 2 (like ب), چ = 3, ٹ = 400, ڈ = 4, ڑ = 200, ژ = 7, گ = 20, ں = 50, ے = 10 and ھ = 5.
Note: traditions differ on a few letters. Some count آ as 2 (two alifs), some give hamza ء no value, and some skip ھ. This calculator counts آ = 1, ء = 1 and ھ = 5.
Examples
- محمد = 40 + 8 + 40 + 4 = 92
- علی = 70 + 30 + 10 = 110
- احمد = 1 + 8 + 40 + 4 = 53
- بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم = 786, which is why many people in Pakistan and India write 786 at the top of letters.
Frequently asked questions
What is abjad (ilm-e-adad)?
Abjad is an old system that assigns a number to each letter of the Arabic alphabet, in the order abjad, hawwaz, hutti, kalaman, sa’fas, qarashat, sakhaz, zazagh. Urdu, Persian and Arabic writers used it to write numbers, to record dates in poetry (tareekh-goi) and for short forms such as 786.
Can I type an English name?
Abjad works on Urdu/Arabic letters, so the name needs to be in Urdu script. You can type it with your English keyboard using the phonetic keys shown above. The spelling matters: علی and عالی give different totals.
Does the number predict my future?
No. This tool only shows the traditional letter values. Many Islamic scholars discourage using numbers to predict fate, marriage or luck, and we don’t make any such claims.
Why does another website give a different number?
Usually because of spelling (for example ہ vs ۃ at the end) or because it counts آ, ء or ھ differently. See the note under the chart.
Is my name saved?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to our servers.
